Request

Would somebody PLEASE tell me how to make a really good frozen margarita... preferably one that doesn't start with frozen limeade mix, because that seems like cheating?

Thank you.

  • 2 ounces tequila
    1 ounce Cointreau
    1/2 ounce lime juice
    Crushed ice

Blend. If you want it a bit sweeter, add a bit of sugar or simple syrup. Kosher salt on the rim, if desired. I hate it with salt - it kills the flavour.

Adding ice to a drink will dilute it, though, just so you know.

Use good tequila, one made from blue agave (also called a reposado), not Cuervo. Do not use Anejo tequila - that's sipping tequila. Use Cointreau rather than generic triple sec. Using Grand Marnier makes a Sidecar Margarita, since GM is a cognac.

    Any more questions?
